“No music, no life”
Born in 2007 in the French Jura region, Fabien Capelli
(registration name) or Fabien Manuel Capelli (civil name) has been
immersed in music from an early age. He began playing bassoon at the
age of seven with his mother, while studying musical training and
choral singing at the Saint-Claude’s conservatory. Passionate about
ensemble music, he is a member of several amateur orchestras and
plays regularly with his parents and sisters.
He is a member of the ABCD&M ensemble, which brings together bassoonists from the Bourgogne Franche-Comté region. He came 6th in his category at the Concours Jeunes Vents Bassons 2019 in Mulhouse. After spending a year in Patrick Vilaire's class at CRR Chalon sur Saône, he joined Damien Rose's class at CRR Besançon in September 2022.
His other passions include jazz repertoire and improvisation, MIDI composition, and conducting.
He studied conducting with Jean-François Verdier, Pierre Walter, Thibault Back de Savigny, Laurent Comte, Marc Hajjar, and will study with his new teacher Joël Soichez.
He studied computer-assisted music with Thibault Raquin, known as “Paddy Smith,” from 2019 to 2022 at the Saint-Claude Intercommunal Conservatory. He will now study with Sebastien Descamps at the Besançon Regional Conservatory.
He studied with his mother for 8 years and obtained a certificate in music studies.
He has been taking classes with Sophie Landemore, professor of writing (harmony, orchestration, culture, and analysis) since 2023.
